Just read this on VirtualWorldsNews.com where the Gartner firm mirrors exactly what I stated in the Metaverse Manifesto published earlier this year.
The link:

The quote:
“the way we represent ourselves through virtual personas–from 3D avatars to Facebook profiles to Amazon wish lists–will become more important for business than who we are as actual [...]

Wow - here we go -
Corporate media in its death throes is not a pretty sight.
- Desperate
- Desperate to assimilate and monopolize.
As we read in the metaverse Manifesto:
“Whenever a reality arises that competes with a corporate reality - it must be assimilated or better yet, destroyed. There is no option of co-existence with the corporate [...]

Watch out folks, as I warned you, corporations continue to land like flies into Second Life, claiming to be “first” to do this and that. Whatever.
It’s nauseating to watch. But now that I am considering how far behind these creeps are (2 to 5 or even 10 years behind depending who you ask) [...]

I’m always glad to see metaversal citizens chime in and join our own little conversation here on virtual worlds. This conversation is unique in having the distictive quality of NOT licking the heels of corporate interests like the mainstream blogs and groups do. We are forging our own path, not seeking to drag all [...]

In the Metaverse Manifesto I describe extensively and very specifically how critics will scream that we are plunging into anarchy as the Reality-creators become empowered.
It reads:
“The abolition of the past-dominated state will be decried … as anarchy.”
And so here we have a reductionists screaming:Â “An abolition of culture!”
Just as we knew they would.
So keep [...]

I’m enjoying the emergence of the opposition voices, as I described the Metaverse Manifesto
But really, “Web 2.0†has transformed our culture into a crowd of mediocrity without a voice.”
Mediocre? - All the experts and old media elites are blogging away like mad not to get left behind.
Crowd? - yes indeed and that’s what makes [...]

IBM has posted a set of best practices for employees in virtual worlds.
Now, as you know MRO’s typist is on a panel in San Jose in October 2007 with the same topic as linked here:
http://www.virtualworlds2007.com/schedule/enterprise.html
Although this may seem to be a self obvious topic - meaning - the same rules in RL apply to the [...]

Thanks to all who came out amidst the fire and traffic for the SIG.
It was a fantastic and “terrifyingly immersive” (that’s a good thing) presentation.
TY also to my SL friends who came out Dedric, Hathead and many others.
I’m supposed to get the .ppt from Forterra and will post when I get it!
